Profile Information

In which Vancouver neighbourhood or other community do you live?
Other (indicate below)
If you don't live in Vancouver or are in another neighbourhood or community we did not list, please tell us where home is.
Roberts Creek
Please tell us which areas of Transition interest you. For example: growing more food/urban agriculture, relocalizing our economy/local currency, Permaculture, transit, energy efficient buildings, the arts, urban homesteading, preserving seed diversity, placemaking, potlucks, outreach, organizing events, community-building, having fun while saving the world, or...
everything to do with the transition to a truly sustainable paradigm
There's a saying that "Transition is not a spectator sport". It's true! Village Vancouver runs on people power, and engaging in activities and projects together helps us accomplish more. Which groups, networks, neighbourhood villages, or projects do you think you might be interested in getting involved with? And what knowledge, skills, resources or other assets can you bring to the mix? (Don't be bashful!)
I am a permaculture designer with experience in urban/rural food garden design, writing and teaching Myco-permaculture and the dialectics of the 12 permaculture principles
What would you like to see improved in Vancouver or in your community regarding sustainability or resiliency? Do you have an idea for a new Transition project or activity?
taxing small biz to create a (properly) efficient recycling program (which is currently a very bad joke) and forcing big biz to take responsibility for the ecological impacts of their products/services.
Subsidies for local farmers and tariffs with increasing value on transported foods
incentives for people to convert lawns and useless landscaping to edible gardens/landscapes
far stricter regulations on recycling in the construction industry
ban all toxic chemicals (especially agricultural) for sale and use within the city
cancel all future highway expansion projects and invest heavily in public transit and free bike use in the downtown core
no more secrets! open all the books on political decision making -no exceptions!
make bureaucracy far more accountable for their actions
stop all forest harvesting on the North Shore and protect and expand the ALR
-to name just a few of my gripes about the greenwash farce of this city

Welcome, Mykoden!

As much as you will probably hate the suggestion, run for office and we will support you all the way. Your ideas are honest, responsible, and progressive.

We are grateful to have you in Village Vancouver, and we hope we can work together to implement these common sense policies.

Our reading of both the global and local situation is that we will have the chance soon enough to start to right a century of wrongs, and reframe and reorient the most basic cultural assumptions of our day, including the need for "growth."

Growth after maturity is cancer.

Welcome to the home of Steady State and Ecological Economics, local currencies, asset sharing, seed sharing, and genuine action and activism toward a lower carbon footprint for all humankind, starting here.

Now, your local Village of grandview woodland is getting off to a slow start and we are trying to help build momentum.

Please join the the grandview woodland village
