Painting Street Intersections - and other ways to transform spaces to places

We're interested in the work of City Repair and especially Intersection Repair (painting and otherwise claiming street intersections.)

City Repair based in Oregon have some good resources: a DVD and book

Anyone have this and willing to lend or host a viewing of the DVD?

City Repair’s Placemaking Guidebook

Our best print resource for community-based projects such as Intersection Repair is called the Placemaking Guidebook. It includes physical examples, stories, techniques for community organizing and
facilitation, and much more.

I've heard from a very reliable source that Kerrisdale Community Centre was all geared up to paint the intersection but it was nix-ed by City Hall. The compromise was that they were allowed to paint the drive-way. I guess VPSN have it right by using washable paints - not legal still but not likely to be enforced.
I also learned through roaming around vancouver.ca that we're responsible for removing graffiti on our own property. My housing co-op was tagged, and I - and others - kind of feel cool about that. I gather strictly speaking, we should be removing it.
