Event Description

The 200 residents of 86-apartment Heather Place will receive a donated organic waste composter in their garden area and learn how to recycle their kitchen scraps into healthy and rich soil for indoor and outdoor plants, including a new edibles garden at the complex.

This new installation will help to reduce the carbon footprint of a large Metro Vancouver public housing facility and teach the several dozen children resident there--and their parents--how "good dirt" is made, and how much of a difference it makes in growing healthy plants and healthy food.

Come join us in selecting a prime location and inaugurating this new community facility.  Please RSVP here to receive instructions the day before in case of a time change and to receive a rendezvous point.

The Eagle has landed.

Heather Place has a new organics composting facility.

Village Vancouver will be supporting this small-scale project and helping with growing pains and early compost support for this spring's food garden plantings before the first useable compost has been created.  We will also promote and educate local residents about this new facility, and begin measure how much we can divert from the municipal waste stream.

What next?
