Jackson Katz argues that widespread violence in American society, including the tragic school shootings in Littleton, Colorado, Jonesboro, Arkansas, and elsewhere, needs to be understood as part of an ongoing crisis in masculinity. Tough Guise is the first educational video geared toward college and high school students to systematically examine the relationship between pop-cultural imagery and the social construction of masculine identities in the U.S. at the dawn of the 21st…

Jana Ronne said… Hi Karen,
So I planted some seeds and I will be able to transplant and give you some seedlings soon. I have some brussel sprouts, beets, onions and is they come up, also some bok choy. You could plant some carrots seeds and try radishes (don't always cooperate and might go to seed rather than making a radish) too. Those don't transplant well.
For salads, arugula and some hardy spinach would grow well right now and in the winter.
I will let you know when I have the seedlings ready.
so long,
Jana

It was so nice to meet you and Nadya on Saturday!
When I get to it, I will be sending out an e-mail with the soil etc info.
And I will definitely be in touch when I get my winter veggie starts:)
Have a great week!

Joldie Hayes said… Hi Karen,
Unfortunately there is nothing set up for ride shares from Vancouver. You may want to post something on the Slow Food Vancouver Facebook page and see if you get any response that way?? We always do a survey after the event to those who have registered online as we have their email addresses. So maybe we can add something about the need for ride sharing and see how many people would be interested. Then based on the need look into providing this service for next year, or at least set up an ride sharing board. I hope something works out for you this year. It would be great to have you join us :)

We're thinking about Wed, March 23rd for the next Arts & Celebrations gathering. Can you update your doodle, so we can see if that works for everyone?
Thanks.

Welcome to our Health Group. We've haven't really activated yet and are quite small, but I've been thinking about bringing people together in the group to share a meal and see what ideas come out of it.

If you have to leave your village, how will you get where you want to go? By car? Preferably not, both for your wallet and the earth’s sake. This category is for all discussions relating to how we all get around.

A human right? After food, most feel shelter is the most important necessity. A place of shelter is also the start of a community. This category is for all things relating to shelter, housing, affordable housing, homes, renewable heating systems, green buildings, heritage, and our built environment in general.
