Event Description

Want to grow food but you live in an apartment? In this course we will cover the techniques and challenges specific to gardening indoors and on balconies in containers. We'll look at soil, fertilizing organically, watering, containers, different sun orientations and what to grow. Cost $30. Subsidies are available.

Instructor: Grant Watson

Grant started Grant's Gourmet Gardens in 2007. He was previously an organic farmer and continues to be involved in organic agriculture in a number of roles, including serving on the certification committee of the BC Biodynamic Association. Grant has been teaching food gardening to children and adults since 2003.

The 2nd workshop in VV's Fall 2013 Cultivating Food, Cultivating Community Series. Next workshop: Oct 10 Backyard Chickens 101.

Tues, Sept 24  Balcony and Container Gardening with Grant Watson. $30

Thur, Oct 10  Backyard Chickens 101 with Duncan Martin. $15 or $25/household

Mon, Oct  21  Canning and Preserving  (6:30-9:30 pm) with Caitlin Dorward. $30 (includes supplies)  

Thur, Nov 7  Basic Emergency Preparedness with Ann Pacey. FREE

Tues, Nov 19  Extreme Thrift with Joy Jolie. $10.

Tues, Dec 3  Disconnecting from the Matrix with Joy Jolie. $10
