Village Vancouver

Vancouver's Leader in Transition toward Strong, Resilient, Complete Communities

Hello,

I am currently doing some research into the economic challenges of producing food in urban Vancouver, and more importantly, how some of those challenges can be overcome. I am an economist, not a food producer (except for the tiny garden growing just outside my window), so I could really use the input of the food producers in this forum.

I am convinced that a local food economy that pays producers a living wage is not only possible, but also a necessary precondition for any meaningful Transition.

I am grateful for any comments you can add to this discussion about the challenges you face, or even better, why not take a moment to complete this short, 10-question survey (mostly multiple choice!)? It will really help to flesh out these issues and contribute to practical solutions!

Thanks,

Jordan Bober

A big thanks to all those who have already taken the time to complete my survey! The results so far are very interesting, and in some cases quite surprising - at least for me. I will publish the results of the survey on this site once I have a bit larger sample size, so if you produce food I encourage you to take the survey, or if you already have please tell your food-producing friends about it as well!
