Village Vancouver

Vancouver's Leader in Transition toward Strong, Resilient, Complete Communities

The meeting was posted, and is to take place Thurs May 30th 4-6 pm at Bear Creek Park (by the northeast entrance). Minutes from the first meeting are available for members. In this meeting the issues of 1) How to make Village Surrey Transparent and Decentralized, and 2) Basic Transition Projects will be discussed more concretely.

Please study and be prepared to discuss the issues of Peak Oil, Climate Change, Economic Crisis, and related topics as well as the Transition Primer http://www.transitionnetwork.org/resources/transition-primer. In addition, please familiarize yourself with the approach used in Transition Town Totnes and Village Vancouver to help having a more focused and constructive discussion.

Topics to be discussed will include how to adopt an organizational structure that would be most permissive for establishing honesty and trust, and thus help build empowering relationships that would be motivating, creative, socially responsible and constructive - building a resilient community. The role of Transparency and Decentralization in the process will be discussed. This includes a review of the 'meeting process', the role of 'facilitation', and 'consensus' in the decision-making process.

A common membership list to be shared among all participating members will be prepared to provide opportunity for open dialogue between all members. The list is to include a skills AND interest inventory as well as the particular neighborhood location of each member in order to facilitate project generation and skills exchange fostering reciprocal constructive communitarian relationships and reskilling needed for Transition.
