Vancouver's Leader in Transition toward Strong, Resilient, Complete Communities

Introduction:
-new faces: Maura and Milisa

Garden Tour Project:
-grant proposal for Small Neighborhood Grant due April 15th
-Rebecca and Emi to amend Vancouver 125 doc for this purpose
-$500
-working groups
-1st working group meeting @ 541 Prior (Prior and Princess) for lasagna beds
-other working group projects: Sobey's, Alexi's, Maura's,
-we MUST see each other's gardens soon!  (mini garden tour in April?)
-children
-can we make this event child friendly?
-perhaps educational component (via EYA) for non-instructional days or PA days?
-we should have a child friendly event AFTER hosting a small garden tour of core transition group members and friends (to instill confidence in garden owners!)
-perhaps combining working group and child friendly work parties?
-liasing with David from community centre for youth group member participation (perhaps youth can act as guides or translators for the tours?) 
-attendance
-keeping attendance limited to maintain "control" and "security"
-possible methods of limiting attendance:  sale of garden tour map (vs. distribution), invite only, tickets?
-advertising for participation
-posters (more to follow) @ community centre, garden and key community locations
-writing a letter to give to possible participants (translation/ cultural sensitivity help from Liza @ community centre)
-follow up by Penny on John Atkins (re: possible heritage garden tour) = no heritage gardens! (mostly heritage garages)

Other Projects:
-Garden Mapping Project
-Milisa has been contacted by MOV member who would like to do a garden mapping project of Strathcona

Visioning Process:
-team up with Main Street Transitions group for Talk Green Vancouver visioning workshop
-concentrate on discussion/ support group format for increasing individual capacity to incorporate sustainable life choices in to personal lives

-poster: Alexi to design and email to group for affirmation :)
-letter to potential garden tour participants: Penny will meet with Liza and write up a draft with anybody that is available
-logo design (to place in window or front lawn so passerby's know they can ask questions)
-small garden tour of of our own personal gardens: everyone
-phone/email tree: Emily?
-new domain name/email: Milisa to create
-Strathcona Resident's Association: Milisa will contact for...?
-zero-waste report: Emi to forward group
-joining with Main Street Transitions Group for visioning mtg with Talk Green Vancouver: Emi
-seek compost donation from the city (pitch garden tour as a community based project?): Emi 
-Penny's Sustainability Chats
-transportation
-food (myths of eating locally, workshop on food preservation)
-energy use
-water use
-ethical buying (buying power)
-life without plastic/ zero waste
-toxins (cleaning products) --> with help from Emily re: DIY soap, deodorant etc
-Penny's amazing workshops
-crocheting
-natural dyeing
