Village Vancouver

Vancouver's Leader in Transition toward Strong, Resilient, Complete Communities

Hi all,

Our next gardening party is scheduled for tomorrow between 2:30 and 5:30. (Come for part or all.)

We made a lot of progress at the two work parties last week clearing the space, replanting, starting trellises, etc. We'll continue with these activities tomorrow and should be ready to start planting soon.

The Billy has some tools, and some of us have been bringing our own, but please feel free to bring more. And snacks to share if you feel like it.

We're seeing about the Billy ordering a greens pickup bin, and I'll inquire about a compost delivery and compost bin. Once we get the compost going, we can ask a couple of the eateries on Cornwall to start saving kitchen scraps for us.

Does anyone have seeds to contribute to the garden? (I do.) If so, what kinds?

See you tomorrow.
Ross

P.S. A couple new people have expressed interest., and we have room for a couple more on top of that.

Hi Kim,

We're electing to start with a relatively small area - about 200 sq. ft. (where I community garden, this is roughly equal to 1 1/2 - 2 plots), and have the option to expand later to perhaps 3-400 sq ft if it feels appropriate. Definitely stop by if you get a chance - if you don't know,  Billy Bishop is on Laburnum, just north of Cornwall - and say hi.

And yes, I think it'd be great to get some seedlings from you when they're ready -- thanks! What varieties of lettuce, kale, squash, etc. do you have? And it would be good to get seeds from the chard; we're also looking to start a seed saving collective in Kits Village as well.

Looking forward to meeting you.

Ross
