Village Vancouver

Vancouver's Leader in Transition toward Strong, Resilient, Complete Communities

Hi all,

Please join us for a relaxing movie night and potluck on Wednesday, December 29th. We'll eat around 6 and start the film at 7.

It's at the home of Pia and Hart, #31 - 1480 Arbutus (buzz Pia Massie) at the corner of Arbutus and Cornwall, just across from Kits beach in Kits Point. Please RSVP to ross@villagevancouver.ca or here.

Across The Universe
(2007, 133 min., Julie Taymor, Dir.) is "a fictional love story set in the 1960s amid the turbulent years of anti-war protest, the struggle for free speech and civil rights, mind exploration and rock and roll. At once gritty, whimsical and highly theatrical, the story moves from high schools and universities in Massachusetts, Princeton and Ohio to the Lower East Side of Manhattan, the Detroit riots, Vietnam and the dockyards of Liverpool. A combination of live action and animation, the film is paired with many songs by The Beatles that defined the time."

Village Vancouver has enjoyed a tremendous year in 2010, with hundreds of new members and tons of activities in our neighbourhood villages, interest networks, workshops, and elsewhere, and 2011 promises to be even more exciting.

Kits Village has lots of things planned for 2011, starting with our monthly potluck at Plough Sunday (it's traditional to arrive on your tractor) on Jan 9th at Billy Bishop Legion. We're particularly excited about our visioning session on the 15th and look forward to discussing how we can connect to take concrete steps to make Kits a more resilient and sustainable community. There's also a dropin spaghetti night and another film night later in the month.

Have peaceful holidays and we'll see you soon.

Cheers,
Ross
