Comment by Athenaise on August 27, 2011 at 5:59pm Hey people! I gotta say: weird seasons this year has made food foraging in the Lower Mainland pretty great. Since lateish Spring, there has been no end the the foraging!
Ive noticed that the berries in particular have 'overlapped' around where I live. There was salmon berries for a realllly long time. I did notice here, though, that the thimble berries were not as good as usual. Lots of worms this year...
I made salal 'fruit leathers' for the first time! Great success! I think next time I will strain the mash maybe to reduce seeds.
-I was wondering- does anyone have a lot of experience with the native plants that are in the 'celery' family? I was hesitant to go at it myself because its a lot easier to mistake those (I think) than some berries.
FYI: I have seeds this year of plants I thought tasted good, and I will share!!!!
Cheers,

A human right? After food, most feel shelter is the most important necessity. A place of shelter is also the start of a community. This category is for all things relating to shelter, housing, affordable housing, homes, renewable heating systems, green buildings, heritage, and our built environment in general.
