Event Description

Thanks in part to the financial turmoil of the last few years and the issues raised by the Occupy movement, increasing numbers of people are becoming aware that our current monetary system is not only broken, but systematically flawed. But what can be done about it?

Michael Linton has been been aware of the root problems with conventional money and has been thinking about, designing and implementing practical solutions for the past 30 years, starting with the famous LETSystem of mutual credit which has spread to thousands of locations around the world after first being launched in BC's Comox Valley in 1982. Michael has since gone on to refine his concept of Open Money - which stresses the role of money as information - and to design new community currency systems with the potential for significant economic repatterning in favour of people, their communities and their environment. In the process, he has become one of the world's leading experts on money and alternative currency systems.

We hope you'll come by, learn to see and understand the money we all take for granted in a very different light, and learn about movements afoot in Vancouver to implement practical new means of exchange that serve their communities.

Doors at 8pm; talks starts at 8:30pm sharp!

Admission: $5 to $15 sliding scale (includes an organic tea and cookie!). Please pay according to your ability - this will help cover the costs of our venue and for Michael Linton's travel expenseshttp://www.facebook.com/groups/343094785722586/
