In which Vancouver neighbourhood or other community do you live?
Victoria-Fraserview-Killarney
Please tell us which areas of Transition interest you. For example: growing more food/urban agriculture, relocalizing our economy/local currency, Permaculture, transit, energy efficient buildings, the arts, urban homesteading, preserving seed diversity, placemaking, potlucks, outreach, organizing events, community-building, having fun while saving the world, or...
I am a passionate gardener, so my main interest is in urban agriculture, and I would love to be part of a "Two Block Diet" community, both for the sharing of produce and knowledge, and also for the sense of community in a too often "anonymous" city environment. I value potlucks and meeting like-minded people. We are stronger through co-operation than through competition. I read a lot and would like being part of discussion groups on peak oil and its many ramifications, and simple living.
There's a saying that "Transition is not a spectator sport". It's true! Village Vancouver runs on people power, and engaging in activities and projects together helps us accomplish more. Which groups, networks, neighbourhood villages, or projects do you think you might be interested in getting involved with? And what knowledge, skills, resources or other assets can you bring to the mix? (Don't be bashful!)
I'd like to be involved with urban agriculture working groups.
What would you like to see improved in Vancouver or in your community regarding sustainability or resiliency? Do you have an idea for a new Transition project or activity?
I believe we need to focus on public transportation rather than private vehicles. We also need to develop and support a local economy and wean ourselves away from goods and food that have travelled halfway around the world.

    Linda,

Although we have not formally "rolled it out," we have a new web feature called "Buy/Sell/Share/Find" (see the navigation tabs up top).  I took the liberty of adding your GREAT OFFER to this space as well as approving it as a Blog entry. You can see it by clicking here.

The next step is to send this out to the "urban farmers" in our midst, and also to Villager's in your neighbourhood.  I will try to manage this later today.

    Hi again!

    Just a couple questions...

We're trying to find a house in Nelson and we will be looking for jobs in the Nelson area as well. Where is exactly is your home located in the West Kootenay's? We would possibly be interested in helping out with some gardening etc while we figured out our situation (viewed possible homes to rent, interviews etc.). Is this something that could work for you? I also must mention that we have a 5 1/2 year old dog named Oddy, which may or may not be an issue. Thank you for getting back to us.
