*Fermented Giardiniera

In the early 20th century, Strathcona was known as 'Little Italy'. In this Village Vancouver workshop with Alyssa Kohlman, you'll learn the basics and benefits of lacto-fermenting vegetables, and how to make a fermented version of Italian giardiniera - a vegetable condiment/antipasto. Giardiniera can be used on eggs, bruschetta, pasta, tuna salad, potato salad, burgers, sandwiches, sausage, and even pizza. All ingredients are provided. Wear comfortable clothing to cook in. Please bring a wide-mouth 500ml mason jar, cutting board, large knife, and large bowl if you're able to. We'll have the VV-SCC Community Seed Library present and you'll be able to take seeds for your garden or swap or donate seeds.

Registration required (by 4 pm May 23): #110523 through SCC 604.713.1838 or in person, or online (https://ca.apm.activecommunities.com/vancouver/Activity_Search/fermented-giardiniera/105542). For sliding scale fee ($0 - $15 suggestion), register by phone 604.713.1838 or in person.
