Profile Information

In which Vancouver neighbourhood or other community do you live?
Kitsilano
Please tell us which areas of Transition interest you. For example: growing more food/urban agriculture, relocalizing our economy/local currency, Permaculture, transit, energy efficient buildings, the arts, urban homesteading, preserving seed diversity, placemaking, potlucks, outreach, organizing events, community-building, having fun while saving the world, or...
I am interested in "ecological literacy" and how it can be promoted across the community. From above list, I am interested in food/urb agric/ relocalizing econ, permaculture, transit, arts, preserving seed (& other) diversity, community-buildling, having fun while..
There's a saying that "Transition is not a spectator sport". It's true! Village Vancouver runs on people power, and engaging in activities and projects together helps us accomplish more. Which groups, networks, neighbourhood villages, or projects do you think you might be interested in getting involved with? And what knowledge, skills, resources or other assets can you bring to the mix? (Don't be bashful!)
Not sure of which projects (need to learn more).
Knowledge: medicine/epdemiology, some knowledge of city government (two terms on Vancouver city council).
Populations level behaviour change (extensive work in tobacco control). Developing knowledge of ecological literacy. Not bashful.
What would you like to see improved in Vancouver or in your community regarding sustainability or resiliency? Do you have an idea for a new Transition project or activity?
Improve: ecological literacy such that people begin to learn how unsustainable is our current way of doing business; urban agriculture and food supply very important.
Village Vancouver seems to me to be indispensable for building resiliency.
No projects in mind.

Welcome to the Village, Fred, a place where everyone is above average and everyone knows your name.

Ecological literacy? Well, we are working on that. We are again teaching ecological economics downtown on the third Wednesday evenings of every month, all fall and winter. as explained here (click this link to see the course listing). Please join us.
