Event Description

The Vancouver Food Policy Council & Village Vancouver Transition Town Initiative are hosting a series of brown bag luncheon discussions and brainstorming sessions  (usually, but not always at the Museum of Vancouver) as part of our FED-AP Community Food Resiliency Project.

These meetings bring together several key Civil Society groups who are working towards similar goals: the creation of a just, sustainable, resilient and regenerative Greater Vancouver bioregion for now and in the future. Our focus is on the effects of a changing climate, peaking resources (eg. fossil fuels, phosphorous and arable land), and economic instability on the security of our food. Our vision is to put mechanisms in place to ensure that security for the time period from now to 2040 and beyond.

We've received exciting ideas and input from past public dialogue sessions - including several From Here to There public events at Museum of Vancouver, a Food Systems Dialogue at Langara College,  the SFU FED-AP Semester in Dialogue - and from previous Brown Bags, and want to hear from additional groups at this point. We invite you to brainstorm how we can build on these valuable contributions toward concrete and feasible next steps in 2014 and beyond, including our next events this Spring.

If you or your organization would be interested in attending a future BB, please send us some information about the work that you're engaged in and why our work is of interest to you.

[By brown bag, we ask that you please bring your own meal or snack.]

Tentative date - TBC.
