Event Description

Main Street Villagers,

We built a cold-frame for a raised bed at our July Potluck, and ate lots of wonderful food--including scrumptious ginger cookies.  Our August Little Mountain Neighbourhood House Potluck will be on Tuesday the 2nd.  We are hoping neighbourhood food gardens will be in full swing by then, and we'll have no-food-miles, fresh, and local dishes to share.  The same goes for September and October, and with cold frames in action, maybe all winter!  The food can only get better and more plentiful!
August's programming/activity is going to be chickens, and we may get to visit a very nearby chicken coop.

What: Main Street Village Vancouver Potluck & Urban Chicken Demonstration
When: Tuesday, August 2nd, 6-8pm (6:00 - Potluck, 7-8pm -  Workshop)
Where: Little Mountain Neighbourhood House (Main @ 24th Ave, next to the library)

Why:  Because the food is delicious, and the company even better.

Hope to see you there,
Main St. VV Steering Group

Hi Jennifer:

I'm a Kits Villager and big fan of our Boston Kid Randy, Main St Village, Cottage Bistro, Nester's Mkt, Do you have only vegetarian food like Kits Village or can we be bring 'normal' locally grown food?  My garden veggie share will be freshly harvested and a couple of slices off the local cow butchered, spiked, spiced and cooked to perfection :-)))

Randy will bust a 'G' string laughing btw - heh heh!

Clear skies, Angela

Nadia remembers a backyard chicken coup just down the lane way from library. The owner was very kind to chat with us this past spring. Wonder if this is who may be partaking or better yet! There are more chickens to be found close to home!

Lini,

We are quite low-key, mostly just talking and eating a diverse selection of great food.  Little Mountain Neighbourhood House has lots of room and great toys for littler kids, and we'll have some show-and-tell from the start for all.  The "presentations" are all hands-on, and I expect we'll even visit a backyard chicken coop that is just over a block away.

People can come and go as they please, without any other commitment than to enjoy themselves.

Folks,

Newbie here, would love to come on the 2nd.  Will bring kids and spouse if willing!

I would be delighted if Nadia could hold a chicken! She was trying to hand feed them at Laura's. I wish we could have one as a pet/ egg layer but hence no yard. Maybe one of our neighbours will get some so we can chicken sit , Randy? That or maybe I apply for that job in Chiiliwack and we start our own little hobby farm. What a slice of heaven that would be! ;)

Come and bring Nadia.  There are LOTS of toys to play with there, and maybe she can hold a chicken.

We had a great time at the Hastings-Sunrise event and want to learn more closer to home.
