Village Vancouver

Vancouver's Leader in Transition toward Strong, Resilient, Complete Communities

Let's stop fighting and competing. People, let's start cooperate with eachother.

Second hand trading is a green initiative for stopping wastefulness, it is an ecological call for the protection of cities and ambients which surround them. Reusage of all used products which we don't use is in one hand a source of income, not only on an individual level but rather a collective one as well.

There is a region-wide email service called Freecycle that helps people to pass on unused articles or materials.  It is neither local, nor easy to use.

It would be immensely helpful if anyone has IT/programming experience to construct an Exchange Site that allows people to key in what they need or might be interested in (e.g. children's clothes sized 1-4, construction wood) and to enter what they need to get rid of.  A smart search that allows local filtering and keyword matching and alerts the user by email to new postings would vastly improve the Freecycle service.

Similarly, I see no problem allowing bartering or sales, although Craigslist does a reasonable job already there.

Thanks for raising this issue and need for tools in asserting the importance of REUSE.   Remember:  REFUSE, REDUCE, REUSE, RECYCLE.  All 4 are important.

The problem is not the lack of solutions, it is the lack of peoples who would like to have solutions.

The problem is that peoples want problems rather than solutions.

The Central Problem Is Not The Lack Of Money, But The Control Of It!
