Village Vancouver

Vancouver's Leader in Transition toward Strong, Resilient, Complete Communities

Probably every member of KIts Village has some interest in food -- so the whole Village is really one big food network. But we also want to help villagers connect around specific interests. For me, it's things like gardening, seed saving, collaborating to get soil and straw deliveries, swapping veggies, permaculture,  creating a local and organic food system, dinner co-ops, potlucks, block parties with lots of food, increasing food justice and resiliency in the neighbourhood, and celebrating. (Part of the VV Neighbourhood Food Network - you can join
on the Food page.)

What is it for you?

I like the local aspect of this, neighbours cooperating with each other in their communities. Personally for me food justice means including apartment dwellers in our Kits area, not just those who have their own gardens. e.g. Apt dwellers helping others till, plant, tend their land and sharing in the crops proportionate to their effort, no freeloaders. I`ve had it with freeloaders taking and moaning but doing nothing! We have a specific table at the Billy used by certain guys nicknamed the `moanalots`, aka sewing circle! lol
