In which Vancouver neighbourhood or other community do you live?
Please tell us which areas of Transition interest you. For example: growing more food/urban agriculture, relocalizing our economy/local currency, Permaculture, transit, energy efficient buildings, the arts, urban homesteading, preserving seed diversity, placemaking, potlucks, outreach, organizing events, community-building, having fun while saving the world, or...
Growing more food, permaculture, potlucks and having fun
There's a saying that "Transition is not a spectator sport". It's true! Village Vancouver runs on people power, and engaging in activities and projects together helps us accomplish more. Which groups, networks, neighbourhood villages, or projects do you think you might be interested in getting involved with? And what knowledge, skills, resources or other assets can you bring to the mix? (Don't be bashful!)
I am interested in being in the food network, government relations and the zero waste network. I am good at organising events and currently learning about forestryat UBC.
What would you like to see improved in Vancouver or in your community regarding sustainability or resiliency? Do you have an idea for a new Transition project or activity?
With peak oil coming our way and a lack of community connection experienced by many residents, we need to connect, share ideas and visions and make a plan. The biggest gap is food security, in my opinion, and I would like to work on this.

Welcome to Village Vancouver, Hannah! We don't have a neighbourhood village in Fairview yet, but you're welcome to join Kits Village (home of our plastic recycling program - the next one is in March) if you'd like. Or, depending on where you live in Fairview, Main St. might be your closest village.
Let's talk more about getting you involved in our food networking. Do you know about the work we're doing on a Food Energy Descent Action plan in conjunction with the Vancouver Food Policy Council and the Museum of Vancouver? Check out From Here to There (Part Two): Food, Energy, and Transitioning to Community Resiliency in the Feb 28 event postings.
