Hi Jordan, thanks for the warm welcome!  I'll definitely check out the open money videos and all the other initiatives that abound on this website.  I'm really glad to have found this community as I've been reading a lot lately about local food, permaculture, renewable energy, etc. and am eager to get settled in Vancouver and start practicing some of this stuff.

P.S. Yes I was shocked about the microlending laws in Canada, (it's not the same as the U.K. where you can quite easily lend money without being an accredited investor)

I'm afraid if you want to organise some kind of microlending initiative, the first thing you'll have to do is organize a campaign to change this aspect of Canadian law.

Hi Jordan,

I'm interested in getting involved, but I have to say I would be unlikely to be able to do work on the garden outside weekends, my work is pretty intense and demanding. One of the things I would be particularly interested in would be to share the same plot with someone else, so that I could fill in for them and they could fill in for me. I gather that gardening requires a high level of continuous attention and I'm not confident that I would have the time to work a plot all by myself.

But if anyone (or more than one) who already has a plot is willing to team up, them that would be something that I would definitely be interested in.

Hey Jordan, Ah darn about timing on the 20th. I looked on VV for conflicting events and didn't see any. Anyway, a screening in the New Year would work too. Captain Charles Moore will be coming to town, so we are planning some (non-clean bin) events around that.

Hey Jordan, Glad to hear you're on the mesh bags bandwagon - you'll never go back. We'd love to do a zero waste fair. After having so much fun in White Rock, we decided to have a Vancouver screening Dec 20th - it's probably a little short notice to get all those elements you talked about in place, but I have got my hand on some sets of bags and have plans for a couple other things. Let me know if you are able to be involved or can think of someone who would like to do a zero waste concession as a fundraiser for whatever they wanted.

Hey Jordan,

It was so good to meet you last week.  I would love to go to the event tomorrow night, but I have class.  I would like to hear some of your ideas pertaining to building a local food economy.  I am interested in attending the meeting on Tuesday.  I will have to check my schedule.  Thanks for the warm welcome to Village Vancouver!

Cheers,

Thomas

A great job on the Dunbar BIA meeting, and your local currency pre-seeding plan among residents is a great way to start. We need to identify strong and connected community leaders to promote the new currency during its launch, especially in the press--who will eat it up--especially television.
With gold at $1400 and currency wars igniting everywhere, we could get very lucky and find ourselves launching this at an auspicious time.
Good work.

Jordan,
Events like this Green Party "Steady State Economy" dialogue on Wednesday are absolutely important enough to post widely for all VV members to see. Feel free in the future to add these events to our VV calendar. Anyone can do this.

With almost 600 members now, this is another great way to reach a sympathetic, but not apathetic, crowd. We need the Greens more than anything today.

Hi Jordan
Welcome. I'm the convenor of the local economy group and would love to have you participate in our group. We've been trying to get a meeting organized but september turned out to be impossible for most of our group members. Will be sending around a new doodle to arrange a meeting in early Oct. Look forward to seeing you there.
