Village Vancouver

Vancouver's Leader in Transition toward Strong, Resilient, Complete Communities

Meet me and my chickens on the CTV news at 11:30 tonight!

I only had 30 minutes warning so I wasn't as prepared as I would have liked to have been for the interview but hopefully I won't make us all look like total fools for wanting to have chickens in our back yards! It'll be on their web site tomorrow in case you miss it tonight. They were heading off the the council meeting after they left here.

I love this picture! Well before this zoning and development bylaw is even approved in principle by Council, let alone drafted in final form by Legal, hens are laying away and Vancouver's vanguard are crowing about it on TV. OK, eggs have actually been mysteriously appearing in Vancouver for decades. Why does policy lag so far behind actual practice here in Lotusland?

The people are leading, and our government struggles to keep up.

Now, can anyone assure me that each and every henhouse will look exactly like this approved model? I do not like this picture for all that it represents:
