"Joy and Resolve"

We think we have no power when in fact we have more than enough power. Right now, we have a big enough movement to win this battle; we just need to start acting like it. That’s the message that the climate movement really needs to internalize. On an individual level, it means making the commitment that we're going to be powerful and effective agents of change; on the movement level, it’s about making the decision that we're really going to win this battle.

Looking for urban farms

I am a SF based photographer looking for backyard urban farmers for a project that I hope will turn into a book.  I'm especially interested in unique  or interesting approaches to your home farm. This project is about people growing their own food or raising animals, it's not really about community gardens or full time businesses. Thanks so much for your help.

Looking for youth volunteers

Kiwassa Neighbourhood House has recently started a new group for youth called the Northeast Youth Action Committee.  The goal of the committee is to create a youth-driven group which will identify and carry out community development projects in the Hastings- Sunrise Neighbourhood.

The youth who are currently involved have identified the environment and issues of food sustainability as important to youth in this community, so it will be the focus of our first project.  We…

Why Cycling is More Patriotic Than Flag Waving

by Jay Walljasper

On the 4th of July my wife Julie and I were biking through downtown Minneapolis to see fireworks at the Mississippi River when someone shouted at us: “Take your clothes off.” We weren’t sure whether to be offended or flattered, until realizing we had pedaled into the midst of a naked bicycle ride.

Well not quite naked, but several hundred people on bikes were approaching us in… Continue
