Little Eden has four self-contained suites and sits on 2.5 acres of mostly clear land in downtown Mansons Landing, Cortes Island. We have a permaculture inspired vision and want the right people to be part of it.

One suite is currently available to rent. It is furnished, has 2 bedrooms and is approximately 1000 square feet. It is clean, comfortable and well-maintained.

We are perfectly located: 5 minute walk to the store, food co-op, bakery, and community hall... PLUS the lake and beautiful marine park lagoon. Yet we're set back from the road in a peaceful setting.

There is an orchard and garden space. We have begun extending the deer fencing to encompass the entire perimeter, which will open up all sorts of gardening possibilities.

We're planning a plant nursery for our own use, perennial plantings (figs, kiwi, grapes etc), garden beds, and small livestock (chickens, possibly a few pigs).

The rent is $550. Rent includes shared laundry and wireless internet.

Our ideal residents are:
- Clean and tidy
- Relatively clean living (take care of themselves, not into hard drinking, drugs)
- Considerate and conscientious
- Experienced in rural living (preferred, not required)
- Financially stable and responsible enough to pay rent on time
- At least somewhat familiar with permaculture concepts
- Good communicators
- Mostly happy and pleasant to be around
- Ethical, high integrity

NOTE - Smokers of tobacco are not a good fit for this place. No exceptions. Let's save each other time and grief and be 100% transparent about this. Thanks.

A one year commitment is required. No pets.

The suites are self-contained and private, but we live in close proximity with each other and we want that to be a positive experience for everyone.

I'm writing a piece about food forests for a Vancouver magazine.
Do you know of any food forests in the city?
I'm especially interested in getting photos of mature sites...
Thanks!

I'm collecting photos and info on Wild Yards. For my purposes, this means a yard that contains useful plant communities requiring little or no human intervention to thrive. I'm more interested in yards that are loved and used rather than just neglected. Got any photos or stories to share? Know of a local WILD YARD that I should check out? Please let me know. Thanks :)
