Hi Rachel,
Welcome to the Transitions movement. I myself have been a member of VillageVancouver for a few months and am currently trying to establish a VillageSurrey. Currently there are a good number of interested people, our webpage went up last week, and I am still trying to get some firm interests so I can organize a first meeting. As you could see from VillageVancouver's projects that your interests fit well with our concept of autonomy, mutual or collective aid and self-sufficiency, and non-authoritarian grass-roots organization.
If you would like to help to see such projects here in Surrey and / or White Rock I suggest that you also register at the VillageSurrey page by going above and clicking on the Village tab. Then look towards the bottom and click on Village Surrey. This way you will have a better chance of being informed in case of any events in the Surrey / White Rock area.
