Profile Information

In which Vancouver neighbourhood or other community do you live?
Mount Pleasant
Please tell us which areas of Transition interest you. For example: growing more food/urban agriculture, relocalizing our economy/local currency, Permaculture, transit, energy efficient buildings, the arts, urban homesteading, preserving seed diversity, placemaking, potlucks, outreach, organizing events, community-building, having fun while saving the world, or...
My focus over the last few years has been on the quality of interpersonal interactions because for me, they're the bedrock of community. There are so many things that we're never taught about how to collaborate and love. As the member of a kibbutz for 9 years, I noticed how difficult it was to make our dreams come to fruition and wished that I have the phenomenal skills and awareness that I'm now teaching and sharing.
There's a saying that "Transition is not a spectator sport". It's true! Village Vancouver runs on people power, and engaging in activities and projects together helps us accomplish more. Which groups, networks, neighbourhood villages, or projects do you think you might be interested in getting involved with? And what knowledge, skills, resources or other assets can you bring to the mix? (Don't be bashful!)
Communications and love training
What would you like to see improved in Vancouver or in your community regarding sustainability or resiliency? Do you have an idea for a new Transition project or activity?
Bring the Heart and Soul group to life focusing on how to become a communalist by integrating every part of our personality, the easy and the challenging.
I agree to read and abide by the Site Guidelines under the About tab on the navigation bar, remaining respectful in all communications on this web site.

I'm an Energy Advisor, a Mechanical Engineering Technologist and an Educator who has worked in renewable energy, social and community development, building-energy efficiency, and farming for over twenty years.

For many years, I was a member of Kibbutz Lotan Kibbutz Lotan Israel, where I helped to pioneer some of the alternative building and sustainability projects that distinguish that community today.

Today, my energies are directed at developing effective responses and adaptations, at the personal and the societal level, to changes in global weather patterns (Climate Change), increasing fuel prices (Peak Oil and Peak Natural Gas), and to the effects that these changes are having on our economies and on our food security.

I works through my company, “Be’er Necessities Sustainable Solutions” BNSS teaching a workshop on Sustainability called “Shifting from Knowing to Doing” and offering instructional, program development, and building energy consulting services through City Green Solutions. I'm actively involved in Village Vancouver, the Vancouver Peak Oil Executive VPOE, and in various community and Food Security initiatives.

Weekly Affinity Group

Several of us have been meeting for the last couple of weeks in an Affinity Group.

For me, the Affinity Circle is a gateway to self awareness, self acceptance and self expression. It provides an opportunity for us to develop skills that improve our ability to listen without reacting, to hold space for another person and to accept people for who they are.

The Affinity Group process was developed by Paul Ferrini http://www.paulferrini.com who is an inspiring teacher, writer, poet and counselor.

Affinity Circles are Spiritual Intervals that are not associated with any particular religion (Though Paul Ferrini, a student of many spiritual paths, has written extensively and eloquently about his great teachers, Lao Tzu and Jesus.)

Please join us this week at 412 West 22nd Avenue, Vancouver, V5Y 2G5. Basement Suite – Access from the right side of the house - entrance at the rear under the deck.

PNE Agriculture in the City Exhibit - Home Harvest Farms

We’d love to see you at the PNE.

Our Home Harvest Farms exhibit is in the Barn with the animals and we’re right beside the pig races.

I’m not sure how I feel about that.

On display, we have a variety of new container gardening and greenhouse systems including a modular three-in-one greenhouse.

We also have a cedar planter designed for school grounds and we’re encouraging PAC’s to install these teaching gardens at their schools.…
