Profile Information

In which Vancouver neighbourhood or other community do you live?
Riley Park-South Cambie
I have lived in this neighbourhood for more than tweny years and I love the village feel to the "hood". I'm a gardener from way back and am thrilled to have my own little greenhouse which as of last year, I filled with raised beds and have been able to grow my own kale, chard, tomatores, beans and leeks. I have many beautiful birds who visit my backyard including a hummingbird that I love to watch feed on my giant crocosmias.

I work in the area of public health as a program planner and am very active ias a volunteer in a group out of St Andrew's Wesley called End Homelessness Now.

I''m interested in getting to know how to live more lightly on the land and have fun doing it!

I am glad you figured out how to connect with the Main Street group on this site. Anna has all kinds of great ideas.

I am going to miss the movie due to another commitment, although I am tempted to crash the event late just to hear Paul speak. I am so glad we have it posted, as it is right up VV's alley. I wonder if you will see Gregor or Amy there, since this has also been a long-time soap box of theirs as well.

Welcome to Village Vancouver, Nancy.

This site barely a month old in its current form, and I am glad you have found it. You will see it change quickly now, with content added daily, and we are just now beginning invitations to our full VV mailing list to join up, so expect the membership to climb fast.

Meanwhile, neighbour, I am at 17th and Cambie. An active Transition Village movement centred on Main Street is currently developing. Are you east or west of Cambie?

Transportation

If you have to leave your village, how will you get where you want to go? By car? Preferably not, both for your wallet and the earth’s sake. This category is for all discussions relating to how we all get around.

Housing

A human right? After food, most feel shelter is the most important necessity. A place of shelter is also the start of a community. This category is for all things relating to shelter, housing, affordable housing, homes, renewable heating systems, green buildings, heritage, and our built environment in general.
