Help! Our hen is a rooster!

One of our hens turns out to be a rooster. Im not sure the farm we got it from will return it, because it has come down with MG (chronic respiratory disorder) in the past and is now a carrier for life. Any ideas? Nice looking white ameracauna fellow, about 8 months old.

Mycoplasma (MG) in chickens

Hey, we are new to hen keeping and feeling quite discouraged. Our chickens are just getting old enough that they should start laying soon, and we've already lost one to Mereck's Disease and now 2 are showing symptoms of MG...meaning likely all of them have been exposed and are now carriers. At a farm, no doubt we'd cull them all and start again. But we're city folk, and the chickens all have names!Considering trying antibiotics, and hoping they stay healthy without another outbreak of symptoms.…See More

Vet advice?

What do folks in Van do when their chickens get sick, and it seems more serious than what you can solve yourself by looking online (BYC forum, etc)? We know of the vet at Night Owl, but it is a $60 fee. Are there any other cheaper local resources for backyard chicken health issues? Thanks!

Pullet with lame legs

Hi, our 4 month old frizzle pullet is having trouble walking. She can when necessary, but often sits or lays down. When she does walk, she often falls over, like a leg has given out. We got her from Art Knapps. Any ideas what this might be? She's eating and drinking okay.

We already grow a lot of food, and will be getting chickens soon, so I want to tap into hen resources
