In which Vancouver neighbourhood or other community do you live?
Renfrew-Collingwood
Please tell us which areas of Transition interest you. For example: growing more food/urban agriculture, relocalizing our economy/local currency, Permaculture, transit, energy efficient buildings, the arts, urban homesteading, preserving seed diversity, placemaking, potlucks, outreach, organizing events, community-building, having fun while saving the world, or...
All of the above!!!
There's a saying that "Transition is not a spectator sport". It's true! Village Vancouver runs on people power, and engaging in activities and projects together helps us accomplish more. Which groups, networks, neighbourhood villages, or projects do you think you might be interested in getting involved with? And what knowledge, skills, resources or other assets can you bring to the mix? (Don't be bashful!)
I am new at gardening and would love to network with organic control over pests, composting sharing crops with other when we have too much as well as some of the other various plants I have growing. I am also an Arbonne Independant Consultant, and am trying to educate women and men on the benefits of using products that are botanically based, free of phthalates, animal products or by-products, petrolatum and other harmful ingredients that we use on ourselves and our children on a daily basis. I am also learning how our body is not able to rid itself of toxins because of some of the products we have been encouraged to use (because Dr.'s and other professionals endorse the products) I personally am feeling much better about the choices I am making to support a company that is vegan approved, offers product that is pure, safe and beneficial and is Swiss formulated. I could go on and on but really if you want to learn more please let me know. I am not trying to pitch the product here I am merely wanting to share what it can do to benefit you and your family. I would love to learn how to leave less of a carbon footprint and how to take better care of my plants and vegetables that I grow and am interested in learning about bees as I know the pollenation of some of the vegetables I have grown in the past few years has been lacking considerably. I am concerned about this and would love to learn how to get some Mason bees and how to care for them so I can give back to nature what we are taking from it! I love potlucks and would love to be a part of a group that shares the same interests as myself and also would like to learn more about health and yoga as I suffer from fibromyalgia and sphondilitis. I love working with kids (of all ages) and used to teach figure skating and coached soccer for 5 years....I am not doing that anymore as my health does not allow it, but would love to learn how I can manage the chronic pain I have so I can ride my bike and walk and hike again.
What would you like to see improved in Vancouver or in your community regarding sustainability or resiliency? Do you have an idea for a new Transition project or activity?
I love seeing the growth with the community gardens and wish more people would push for those so we could have the support of the people living in those communities but also the support of the government. Would love to see some bee colonies (in a small scale so individuals could manage them) so we can keep growing organically if that's what we choose to do.

I heard about this from a wonderful lady who is a biologist whom I just met today and she really said this is a wonderful place to connect with people that are interested in so many things but what really got me was the bee (mini course) she got to take and she told me how important the bees are to us being able to grow food. We talked for almost two hours and exchanged emails and phone numbers so we could keep in touch. She is moving to the South of France at the end of September and bought a GPS I had that has the European map on it and that's how we met, but funny how it was like it was meant to be...thank you Koren (I hope I am spelling that right) for the most interesting conversation I have had in years and all the valuable information you gave me! I hope we see each other soon!
