In this joint Village Vancouver - WENFN West End Urban Garden Club workshop with Rhiannon Johnson, you'll learn how to build your soil for a healthy vibrant veggie garden! Ever wonder what's so special about soil? Or what you can do to make your soil even more fertile? Soil is the foundation of a terrific veggie garden it provides the nutrients, stability, and resilience for healthy plants for greater tolerance of storms, rain, heat, drought, disease, or pests and a bigger veggie yield out of your garden. Bring a 1 liter CLEAR container with a lid at least half full of YOUR garden soil for some simple tests to learn specifically about your garden's soil and how to improve it with natural fertilizers, soil amendments, and gardening techniques for a more vibrant and resilient garden. We'll also learn about composting, tailored to your space, and how it can supplement your garden's health.
We'll have the community seed library present - you can get some free seeds for your garden or swap or donate some seeds.
