Thanks to everyone who participated in our first meeting. It was a pleasure getting to know you all, taking stock of our human condition, and sharing our thoughts and vision to reclaim our humanity collectively and cooperatively. I particularly liked the quality of our interactions. We have much work to do, and much to celebrate in the process.
I will be announcing the next meeting soon for next week. Because Surrey is so large, I suggest that you edit your residence to specify the neighborhood you live in, so that others close to you may contact you more locally and informally for collaboration (i.e., outside of events / meetings). It is the strength of our relationships that enable us in our goals and projects.

Change of the Meeting / Event Time
Due to several notifications from interested folks unable to attend the meeting because of their work schedule, I decided to move the meeting to 1 hr. later from 4-6 pm. We can then decide collectively where and when to have future meetings / events for best participation. Please RSVP on the event page if you are able to attend.

I would like to see chickens allowed on regular sized city lots in Surrey, and although this has been brought to city council in the last few years there has appeared to be no support for this. We have bees on our approx. 9000 sq. ft lot in Fleetwood, lots of fruit trees and bushs, raised garden beds and still room for a few chickens, and eggs.

I would also like to see community fruit and nut trees, either in small orchards managed by the parks dept, or on side street boulevards and greenspaces.

I love to see all the groups and everything that is happening in Vancouver. With interest and energy and initiative some great things are happening.

It is great to see that the folks at Village Vancouver set up this web page for Surrey. I live in Surrey and am very interested in planning and implementing Transition initiatives with respect to variety of issues (food, water, energy, housing, education, etc.). I am all for think globally and act locally and welcome joining anyone else to tackle such sustainability issues. Let's use our imagination and creativity and work together to protect and improve our environment and life. Feel free to contact me if you have ideas or projects in mind.
Cheers,
Behrouz
