Hi everyone, my lovely red bike with the huge black basket got stolen on Monday, April 28 from my yard near Commercial Drive.

Please keep your eyes peeled! It's a pretty distinctive looking bike, and my primary mode of transportation.

Thanks,
Alyssa

The potluck and chicken lesson were both lovely! Thank you Alyssa, Jason, and everyone who made the amazing food!

Rosie and Cookie were fabulous as well -- very chill about the mess of people in their coop! Glad to have a chance to interact with them.

Come join Hastings Sunrise neighbourhood for a seedy Saturday! We will create the beginning of a seed library, a seed bank, and we will make seedballs! Bring seeds to invest, share, trade or sell, and plants to exchange, or sell. Kids encouraged to attend! All are welcome.

The new Vancouver Tool Library is opening close to our hood in just a couple of weeks, and I hope that many of us will support it and have great use for it in the time to come. I am on their mailing list and would like to share what I received today:

Hey, Tool Library Supporters!

Welcome to the VTL mailing list, and first of all, thanks so much for your support so far. It's been a really rewarding process to see this list grow over the past few weeks and begin talking with the people who will eventually be the users of our tool library. As promised, we won't bug you with too many emails, but we will keep you posted on our progress towards opening the doors to our tool lending library and getting you involved.

Today, we are so excited to share the news that news that we've found somewhere to set up shop! Over the next couple of weeks, we'll be moving into our new space at 3448 Commercial Street. We'll be posting photos of the shop to our blog and facebook page soon, so stay tuned. To celebrate this big step towards our launch date, we're holding an open house and fundraising event on Saturday, April 30th. We invite you all to come down to the VTL for...
  • $2 pancakes 'til noon, live music all day
  • Membership signups: purchase your lifetime membership share ($20 cash) and pay your annual maintenance fee ($30 cash)
  • Tool donation station: put your spare or underutilized tools to use in your community by donating them to the tool library
  • Family-friendly activities: build a Mason Bee House to take home, bring a photo of yourself working on a tool-related project to contribute to our community collage project

Bring your friends, bring your neighbours, help us spread the word! A poster is attached if you want to pass on the information or post it up at one of your local haunts.
See you there!

- Your friends at The VTL

Hi again,

Here is the image that accompanied the proposal - illustrating our proposal for some intersection repair (street mural, banners, public art etc.)

NSGP%20Proposal%20-%20Venables%20%26%20Lakewood%20v2.ppt

This is for illustrative purposes only. The idea is that the actual design will be prepared by residents of the surrounding blocks through a series of a few street gatherings/potlucks over the course of the spring and implemented this summer.
