Vancouver's Leader in Transition toward Strong, Resilient, Complete Communities
Hi All! Just wanted to let you know that Jonathan and I recieved $400 towards our East Pender Mini Park project! It's something, right?
At the corner of East Pender and Penticton streets is a neglected patch of park space with a sad little bench just crying out for a community-minded make over!
It needs some seating, flowers and general beautification.
We will be working on this sometime in early July if anyone would like in on it!
Have a great day all my VV peeps!

Hello VV peeps: Just wanted to let you know that Louise and I also received $275 for the Cedar Cottage Community garden -- to add more bee-friendly aspects to the food forest and garden, build coldframes, do some vertical gardening (another perma principle), etc.
And another Cedar Cottage garden friend also applied and received grant funds for canning workshops in the fall. I have volunteered to help her so if you want to be put on the contact list, email me.
Also, Cedar Cottage Garden is participating in the Lawns to Loaves project and will be sheet mulching and planting wheat this Saturday 10 am forward, so if you're interested in checking it out and/or helping, the garden is located at Hull Street and Victoria Drive and Stainsbury Street. The proposed wheat field is in the same field as the West House -- you can't miss this laneway house.

Could you put me in the distribution list for any updates about the Cedar Cottage Garden? Volunteer oppties, etc?
I have forwarded your info to the membership committee and finally dropped off your membership form to them.
Check out our google site:http://groups.google.com/group/cedar-cottage-community-gardens where notices are also often posted. Thanks. cylia

If you have to leave your village, how will you get where you want to go? By car? Preferably not, both for your wallet and the earth’s sake. This category is for all discussions relating to how we all get around.

A human right? After food, most feel shelter is the most important necessity. A place of shelter is also the start of a community. This category is for all things relating to shelter, housing, affordable housing, homes, renewable heating systems, green buildings, heritage, and our built environment in general.
