FREE food preservation workshops for residents of Kitsilano, Arbutus Ridge, and West Point Grey 

 

INTRODUCTORY SESSION

THURSDAY, JULY 14, 2011   7:00 - 9:00 PM

Billy Bishop Legion Hall - Beer Garden

1407 Laburnum Street, Kits Point

 

Participants will meet and collaboratively plan two future hands-on canning workshops, discuss basics and learn about canning recipesand other methods for preserving locally grown fruits & vegetables.

 

Workshop hosts:

Marnie Newell works with the Society Promoting Environmental Conservation(SPEC) and is a passionate food preserver with dozens of cans under her belt. She has been trained by food preservers from such diverse backgrounds as Backwoods to Big City Chef.


Caitlin Dorward is past president of Sprouts at UBC, a SPEC Director, Agricultural  Researcher and avid foodie and canner. She is food safe certified and has been teaching canning workshops for the past three years.
