Learn to make your own fermented vegetables. Traditional vegetable ferments include sauerkraut and kim chee. In this class we will make a seasonal creation of "Local Veggie Slaw". The vegetables used will depend on what is seasonally available from local farmers, and will be different from the October workshop. Participants will be fully active in creating the slaw, and take home a jar of veggie ferment seasoned with their own customized spice mixture.
Participants should bring any of the following items that they can: cutting board, large knife, kitchen scissors, large bowl or tub, wide-mouth jar and lid. Wear clothes that you don't mind preparing food in.
Registration/Information: Strathcona Community Centre #17854 (604.713.1838 or November Veggie Slaw or in person).
Fee: $10 ($5 with LAC) + $7 for materials
