Event Description

The Cedar Cottage Food Network and Vancouver Public Library – Kensington are proud to present our third workshop in the 2016 Seedy Saturday series. During this workshop, participants will learn about the essentials of garden maintenance throughout the season including watering (especially with summer restrictions on the way), harvesting, pest control, soil testing, and more! The instructor, Kim Del Valle Garcia, will also cover how and when to save seeds for next season (and to donate back to the seed library!). Seed saving is an important part of garden care, as it helps you plan for next season and maintain the heritage and biodiversity of seeds – it’s nice to know exactly what you’re planting and eating.

Seeds will once again be available through the seed library and our donation box will be on hand if you have some you’d like to share with others in the community. Although the event is free, registration is required either online or in person at the library branch. Light refreshments will be served.
