Windstorms, floods, economic dislocation, earthquakes – you buy insurance against some of these, but have you taken steps to increase preparedness in your home and community? Come learn simple steps you can take with others in your neighbourhoods to prepare your family, pets and friends. We’ll look at a number of scenarios, draw on comprehensive preparation guides, and discuss personal strategies to increase your resilience to unforeseen events.
Offered as part of Village Vancouver's Transition School as part of Langara College's Sustainable Communities Summer School.
Instructor: Ann Pacey
Ann Pacey is an environmental engineer turned activist. Ann is a Board member of Village Vancouver and leads Village Vancouver’s Emergency Preparedness Project. She has co-founded a number of other Village Vancouver Working Groups including Dunbar Transition Village, Energy, and Local Economy. Ann is an urban farmer and raises chickens for eggs and meat.
