Event Description

In just six years, the community based Transition Movement has spread around the globe to include several hundred (or more) Initiatives. In just 4 years, Village Vancouver has become one of the largest and most active Transition Initiatives in the world, with thousands of community members.

Join us in exploring what Transition is, why it’s appealing to so many people, and how it works locally.

Instructor: Ross Moster and Ann Pacey

Ross Moster is the Founder of and Convenor for Village Vancouver. He’s very active in helping to connect people in their communities. He coordinates Kits Transition Village and VV’s Neighbourhood Food Networks, and also serves on the Vancouver Food Policy Council and works with several other community organizations. ross@villagevancouver.ca

Ann Pacey is an environmental engineer turned activist. Ann is a Board member of Village Vancouver and leads Village Vancouver’s Emergency Preparedness Project. She has co-founded a number of other Village Vancouver Working Groups including Dunbar Transition Village, Energy, and Local Economy. Ann is an urban farmer and raises chickens for eggs and meat.

Offered as part of Village Vancouver's Transition School as part of Langara College's Sustainable Communities Summer School.
