Event Description

“Ceroc Around The Clock” is a 12-hour dance event involving dance groups and performers that usually perform at the Kitsilano Showboat, in addition to local dance teachers and supporting businesses. Dancers will raise money by collecting pledges for the amount of hours they dance, or they can pay an entry fee to the event. Dance workshops by different dance teachers will be held in the afternoon, followed by a dance party in the evening, kicked off by a fun Ceroc lesson. The event is all-ages and Ceroc Vancouver is aiming to raise $5000.
The Kitsilano Showboat, operating since 1935, is an open-air amphitheatre located at Kits Beach. All summer long, the Showboat hosts free performances from local bands, dance groups, and other performers. Its main goal is to entertain residents and tourists, showcasing amateur talent.

In late 2012, a King Tide, in combination with high winds, caused major damage to the Kitsilano Showboat stage and facilities located at the Kitsilano outdoor pool. The water breached the pool wall, surrounded the stage and flooded all the dressing rooms, storage rooms, bathrooms, sound room and parts of the stage. The water was 18 inches deep backstage and everything was covered in debris and seaweed. As a non-profit, self-supporting, volunteer organization, the Kitsilano Showboat Society needs to raise significant funds to make the necessary repairs before the 2013 season can get underway – their 78th year providing free entertainment to Vancouver.
