Event Description

Citizen's Forum: A Sneak Peak at the Vertical Sprawl Proposed for Broadway & Kingsway. Questions, answers, and open discussion.

Wed April 27 at 6:30pm
St.Patrick’s Parish Hall
2881 Main St (at 13th)
www.cityhallwatch.ca

Background: There is a proposed glass tower and block redevelopment for Kingsway and Broadway (to 10th and Watson). This citizen's forum is a response to the April 12th city-run Open House on this rezoning proposal and the March 20th joint developer/city workshop.

The density and height of the current application far exceeds existing zoning bylaws and is is contrary to the recently approved Mt. Pleasant community plan.  Increased land speculation and rising residential and commercial rents are inevitable consequences of such a significant rezoning.

Independent residents will present the issues at hand and discuss positive solutions and visions for one of the oldest neighbourhoods in Vancouver.  The forum will be open to all for comments, questions and discussion.

This citizen's forum is supported by CityHallWatch and organized by neighbours, including a couple of members of VV Main Street Village.
