Second class of a 8-session course, we will review how to make:
1. Swiss Roll/ Jelly Roll based on chiffon cake
The basic skill to make chiffon cake is to make meringue by beating egg white until the consistency becomes stiff
Then fold the meringue with cake batter which contains egg yolk, vegetable oil, sugar, flour and don’t forget the flavorings such as vanilla, chocolate, green or red tea, coffee ----etc.
Once the cake is baked and cooled down, spread jam, custard, whipped cream or cream cheese on the top then roll the combination up into a tube to form the Swiss Roll/ Jelly roll (don't need to capitalize). Slice and serve.
2. Dinner Bun in different shape based on poolish dough.
Poolish dough starter helps our dinner bun create a sweet and pleasant flavor of fermentation.
What will happen if the Bun fills with hot dog (sausage?)? The transformer will give you the answer.
3. Moon Cake
September is Moon Festival Month for the Chinese culture. Syrup is the most important ingredient for moon cake. Syrup will be made in advance to help shape its stability. we will make moon cake and enjoy Moon Festival Night.
Everyone 16+ is welcome. No previous experience required but you must be enrolled in all sessions
