Event Description

Join Melanie and Marty to learn ‘Co-op Basics’: history of co-ops, principles, values, types, scope and success factors. The afternoon is ‘Application of the Co-op Model,’ which will provide you with the opportunity to explore how to use this model for your own initiatives. This workshop will also explore what resources are available for co-op development.

Offered as part of the Village Vancouver Transition School as part of Langara College's Sustainable Communities Summer School

Instructors: Melanie Conn & Marty Frost

Melanie Conn and Marty Frost have been working in co-op and community economic development since the 70s in Vancouver. Through Devco, a worker co-op of consultants, they have provided assistance to dozens of co-ops British Columbia and elsewhere in every element of the development process from initial group formation through planning through business and financial planning to incorporation. They also facilitate training for co-op developers.
