Event Description

It's been a little while since we've had an Arts & Celebration meeting, and with so many new folks expressing interest it's time to get together for a jam session (so to speak)!  Come on out to share some food and conversation with other A&C members and help us figure out how to celebrate and artify our lives in the upcoming months- opportunities exist for involvement with the neighourhood transition village demo during Car Free Day, Summer Spaces, Langara's Summer School on Building Community, music and dance, regular VV Meetups, and...   more (bring your ideas).

The address of Ross' place will be sent to RSVPers and is also posted in the Arts & Celebration Network Gathering discussion here.

Nadia and I would love to attend but might not make it through the whole meeting. Please welcome my sharing an event that I am volunteer coordinating for, We are still looking for other volunteers to join in the fun!

Do you know someone under the age of 25 who plays in a band and who would like to be apart of a Youth Music festival?? Tell them to come out to VAN BC's general meeting this week, Feb. 4th @ 3pm @ Ray-Cam to check things! We are looking for bands to perform from 1pm to 5pm @ our forum to combat apathy Feb 13th, 2011 @ Ray-Cam Gymnasium! VAN BC wants to engage Youth!!! http://www.raycam.org/

Vancouver Alliance Network Because we Care (VAN BC). We believe it is important to begin meaningful dialogue on issues and build alliances to support various concerns and encourage citizens to be actively involved in developing community based solutions that are consistent with the four dimensions of sustainability.

VAN BC has scheduled the event for February 13, 2011 at the Ray Cam Community Centre. It will be from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm and feature 7 panels on key areas. The format will focus on description of the issues and solutions but also on how we intend to build greater community involvement to ensure active engagement of people who feel alienated frustrated and are uninvolved. The seven panels are, Environment, Women Issues, Education, Childcare, Voter Apathy, Arts and Culture, and Housing and Homelessness.

This date, one day prior to the Missing and Murdered Women’s March allows us to show solidarity, promote social sustainability and highlight that is place “WHERE CHANGE HAPPENS”, including critical issues facing women and exploring solutions to Vancouver communities challenges to create safe enriching places for women, families and children.

VAN BC wants this process to be as welcoming for all people and has taken several steps to ensure we can get the largest and diverse audience we can. We will be hosting an all day Children’s Festival and a Youth music festiival simultaneously to encourage as many parents and youth to attend. There will be food and other fun events. If your organization would like to have an information table or you want to assist please call Scott Clark at            778 709 3165       or email at clarkscott00@hotmail.com.

Thank you for time and we look forward to seeing you on February 13, 2011 at Ray Cam.
