3rd Annual Joy of Feeding

Join us at the UBC Farm on June 30th for a delicious day of food, culture and festivities! Sixteen home cooks of different ethnic backgrounds will offer a taste of their family recipes at the third annual Joy of Feeding event. This celebration of whole foods, culture and cooking will take place from 1-4pm at the UBC Farm.

“Joy of Feeding is an international food fair that celebrates the importance of carrying on the cooking traditions of all cultures,” says Meeru Dhalwala, founder of Joy of Feeding and co-owner of Vancouver’s Vij’s and Rangoli’s restaurants. “We hope to encourage people of all backgrounds to cook foods from all over.”

Joy of Feeding is an opportunity to celebrate the unique setting of the UBC Farm (www.ubcfarm.ca). The outdoor, family-friendly event will feature children’s activities, multi-cultural beats and delicious dishes from countries such as Mexico, Malaysia, Russia, Serbia, Spain, Scotland and more. Tickets are $50 and include a recipe book with each cook’s story and family recipe. Children 13 and under are free with their parent or guardian’s ticket purchase. Event proceeds support the interdisciplinary learning, research, and community programs at the UBC Farm.

“Joy of Feeding celebrates people coming together and connecting around food,” says Amy Frye, Director, Centre of Sustainable Food Systems at UBC Farm. “That’s what the UBC Farm is all about. We’re in the process of creating an innovative new Farm Centre facility that will become a place where people can come together to tackle the big and challenging questions of how we live and eat sustainably.”
